In other words, one would have to choose between being a Christian or a transhumanist. But one cannot be both. Is this correct?

If so, do you believe those who embrace transhumanism should be expelled from the religion?

I'm not sure orthodox Christianity would agree that Christianity is ultimately about transcendence. Further, Christianity makes some claims to exclusivity that at some point would directly contradict some of transhumanism.

The larger point I would want to make is that transhumanism's view of humanity, of what it means to be human, stands quite separate from the Judeo-Christian view of human dignity, rooted in the Imago Dei.

Thanks for weighing in.

Why can't someone be a transhumanist and a Christian at the same time? They are both about transcendence. There is no reason to believe that anyone particular religion or ideology has a monopoly on transcendence.
